About BWI Group
Beijing West Industries (BWI) Group (Formerly Delco) is a full service supplier of chassis, suspension, and brake products for the automotive industry. Their people, technical centers, manufacturing plants and intellectual property enables them to bring to market a legacy of producing brake and suspension components, modules, and systems of more than 8 decades.

The Challenge
BWI Group struggled with managing the integration of their complex automotive system contracts and reports with Salesforce. Their existing solution, which used custom code, resulted in significant technological debt. This approach not only violated best practices but also caused frequent errors and high maintenance demands due to Salesforce storage limits. BWI sought a best-practice solution that included seamless SharePoint integration, allowing direct links to records, folder creation within Salesforce, and adherence to strict hierarchy rules for folder management, while also being adaptable for future use in Salesforce Communities.
The Solution
Summit implemented the following solutions for BWI Group:
Developed a custom Lightning Component using Salesforce Lightning Design System (SLDS) for the SharePoint UI
Integrated technologies like SFDC REST API, MS Graph API, Azure Active Directory, and Microsoft authentication flows for single sign-on access
Utilized asynchronous future methods for handling larger files and custom algorithms for file chunk uploads to comply with Salesforce limits
Created a SharePoint Files application for accessing, uploading, and managing SharePoint documents within Salesforce, seamlessly linked to records
Leveraged authentication flows to reduce login frequency to once every 90 days, with admin control over user access based on SharePoint permissions
